The ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 is nearly upon us, and after spending the past week on board the magnificent Galaxy Cruise Ship, I just can’t wait to get back here for all the action in April.

While the main purpose of this trip was to work through many of the logistical challenges surrounding the massive operation of moving over 900 passengers in and around the Caribbean during the tournament – match and airport transfers, on board entertainment and dining, dress codes, cabin allocations, meeting and muster areas (the list just goes on!), I wasn’t going to miss the chance to make full use of my time on board one of the Top 10 Cruise Ships in the world.

The Galaxy is a class act from the moment you step on board. Helpful and friendly staff, sensational food and drink in copius amounts, and a smorgasboard of entertainment to cater for every taste. The atmosphere on board each night as we return from the cricket is going to be electric, and I am sure there will be plenty of warm nights spent on the pool deck sipping Caribbean Punch and making great new friends.

Like AST, Celebrity Cruises prides itself on being the best in the business, and I can assure you that those of you that are booked on either of our ICC Cricket World Cup cruises on board the Galaxy are in for the time of your lives.

Those of you staying on our Barbados Land package are also in for a fantastic experience. The Bajan people are some of the friendliest in the world and they love their cricket. Bridgetown Airport has been updated and expanded to cater for the influx of visitors for the tournament, and their message to me was loud and clear – we are ready! Our two properties at Coconut Court and Divi Southwinds are anxiously awaiting our arrival, and the azure waters and beautiful white beaches await you just footsteps from your room after a long hard day at the cricket.

While the “testing” of numerous beaches, hotel pools, restaurants and beach bars was an important part of my trip and one I carried out diligently, there were also some serious discussions to be had. After meeting with some of the most important players in the tournament’s preparation - the WICB, Cricket Logistics, LIAT Airlines, Celebrity Cruises and countless hotels both in the Caribbean and the USA where many of our Add On tours take place, I can assure you that all is in readiness for another spectacular AST cricket tour experience.

I’ll see you in the Caribbean!
