Day 1
Sunday 25th January                                                               Depart Australia

 

Depart locally from Australian capital cities on your flight to London.

 



Day 2
Monday 26th January                                                               Arrive London

 

Today we will arrive at Heathrow International Airport in Greater London. Upon arrival you will be transferred by coach to Birmingham in preparation for tomorrow’s first match of the tour. After arriving at our hotel in Birmingham, you can choose to either relax in the surrounds of the hotel or begin to explore the city. Tonight you will be a guest at the Australian Sports Tours welcome dinner.

2009 English Premier League Tour: Big Ben, London

Day 3
Tuesday 27th January

West Bromwich v Manchester United, The Hawthorns (7.45pm kick off)


This morning following breakfast you will have the chance to explore the city of Birmingham as it gears up to host the English Premier League Champions from last season - Manchester United. West Bromwich Albion won promotion as Champions of The Championship last season, but will face a huge challenge against the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez and Scholes. Manchester United will be looking to keep their run for another title on track here, but “The Baggies” will have other ideas.

Day 4
Wednesday 28th January                                                        Birmingham – London

Chelsea v Middlesbrough, Stamford Bridge (7.45pm kick off)
 

After last night’s fantastic match, today will see us make our way to London and off to another match featuring one of the league’s top sides in Chelsea. The squad assembled at Chelsea by Roman Abramovich is littered with superstars such as Michael Ballack, Didier Drogba, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Michael Essien and tonight they play host to Middlesbrough. Australian keeper Brad Jones may find himself in goals tonight and will need his fair share of help from the rest of the team to keep Luiz Felipe Scolari’s Chelsea at bay.

Day 5
Thursday 29th January                                                            London - Manchester


After witnessing two big games in two days, we get a chance to take a breath while we make our way back to the North of England to Manchester which we will use as our base for the next few days. You will be able to take in everything Manchester has to offer, from a bustling shopping precinct, numerous art galleries, sporting events galore and a lively nightlife.

Day 6
Friday 30th January                                                                 Old Trafford Stadium Tour


Today will see the group head to the world famous Old Trafford Stadium and have the opportunity to go behind the scenes and soak up the atmosphere of this football club. Immerse yourself by standing in the dugout, walking down the tunnel, or sitting at your favourite player’s peg in the home changing rooms. The opportunity is yours before visiting the Museum and viewing United’s glistening silverware up close including last year’s new addition of the Champions League and Premier League Trophies.

2009 English Premier League Tour - Old Trafford

Day 7
Saturday 31st January

Liverpool v Chelsea, Anfield (3pm kick off)

 

This morning we’ll make the short journey from Manchester to Liverpool for a top of the table clash with Chelsea. Today’s match could have a massive bearing on the league table and the race to be Champion for the 2008/09 season. Anfield will be alive today with the likes of Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and new signing Robbie Keane out to topple Chelsea. See The Kop in full flight and join in a powerful rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” which is bound to make the hairs stick up on the back of your neck before settling in for kick off.

Day 8
Sunday 1st February                                                                Manchester - Rome

Lazio v AC Milan, Stadio Olimpico (2pm kick off)

 

It will be an early start today as we make our way to the Liverpool Airport where we will board our flight bound for Rome. Upon arrival into the capital of Italy we will quickly check into our hotel and then head straight for the Stadio Olimpico to watch Lazio play host to seven time European Champions, AC Milan. With AC Milan’s team boasting players such as new signing Ronaldinho, Maldini, Kaka, Emerson and Australian goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac, it will definitely be a once in a lifetime experience in this 72,000 capacity stadium.

Liverpool F.C. English Premier League

Day 9
Monday 2nd February                                                               Rome Sightseeing

 

After breakfast this morning we embark on our sightseeing tour of this great city. As the saying goes “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and you will see why today as we take in sights including The Colosseum, the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, The Forum, Vatican City and much much more. Romans take great pride in their rich history of emperors and gladiators, Renaissance art, food and wine, and the romantic countryside. This city will take your breath away! After the sightseeing concludes you may choose to revisit some of the world famous icons before our departure to London tomorrow morning.

Day 10
Tuesday 3rd February                                             Stadio Olimpico Stadium Tour

 

This morning following breakfast we relive the glory of last night as we embark on a tour of the Stadio Olimpico. After looking back over the most exciting memories staged here including the 1990 World Cup, the 1996 Champions League Final and the 1960 Summer Olympics, a magnificent sight of this stadium will unfold in front of you. This is a unique tour as the stadium holds memorabilia for both AS Roma and Lazio. After the tour concludes, you will be taken back to the hotel where the remainder of the day is yours at leisure.

Day 11
Wednesday 4th February                                                          Rome - London

 

We make our way back to London today after our Italian experience in preparation for our final game in a few days time. Our base in London will give you a great opportunity to further explore the sights, visit a good old fashioned local English Pub or venture out to some of the hippest bars and restaurants this city boasts.

 Day 12
Thursday 5th February                                                              London Sightseeing

 

This morning following breakfast we will embark on a guided tour of London, where we will get to see many of its famous historical sites, such as Big Ben, The London Eye, Westminster Abbey and the home of the Royal Family, Buckingham Palace. Upon returning to the hotel the rest of the day is then yours to enjoy at your leisure. You may like to relax in the surrounds of the hotel or further explore all that the city has to offer.

Day 13
Friday 6th February                               Portsmouth FC Training Ground Experience

 

Today will be a unique experience for our tour members as we depart London and make our way down to Portsmouth to attend a training session of the Portsmouth FC at Fratton Park. Harry Redknapp and the rest of the coaching staff will be putting their finishing touches to the squad as they gear up for a huge challenge tomorrow against glamour side Liverpool.

Day 14
Saturday 7th February

Portsmouth v Liverpool, Fratton Park (3pm kick off)
 

Following breakfast we will make the short trip to Fratton Park for our final match of the tour, and what a match to finish with. The city will be abuzz as they play host to one of the big four teams of the competition in Liverpool. Portsmouth as the reigning FA Cup winners and with the newly formed all English attack of Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch will be out to knock the high flying Liverpool, astutely managed by Rafael Benitez from their perch.

Days 15 - 16
Sunday 8th – Monday 9th February                                 Depart Portsmouth – Arrive Australia

 

It will be mixed feelings today as we depart Portsmouth back to London after our fantastic time and board our return flight home to Australia arriving the following day due to time differences.
